SILVERFISH PEST CONTROL

The Silverfish, also commonly known the fishmoth, is one of the most common household pests to infest residential areas, mainly due to the optimal conditions that can be found in houses for silverfish reproduction and living. Luckily with general silverfish pest control, they can be eliminated and prevented quite easily.
SILVERFISH APPEARANCE
Silverfish get their name due to their silver-metallic blue coloring and their fish-like shaped bodies. They are often referred to as “antennae with a body attached” because of their body length feelers on their front and rear end.
SILVERFISH REPRODUCTIVE HABITS
Your typical female silverfish can lay up to 60 eggs in a single cycle but they generally lay less than 100 eggs in their lifetime. Silverfish reproduce very quickly as their eggs can take as little as 14 days to as long as 2 months to hatch, requiring infestations to be addressed as soon as possible.
SILVERFISH BEHAVIOR
Silverfish can live in many different climates but thrive best in damp, darker locations due to their nocturnal nature. Silverfish are also known for their destructive behavior, often found near moist clothing or papers as they eat the materials in both which can quickly end up ruining them.
Their destructive wake and droppings are the best indication of their presence. The most common locations for silverfish infestations are the bathroom, basement, kitchen and laundry room. These rooms are the best place to begin a silverfish inspection and any extermination attempts.
SILVERFISH PEST CONTROL
Because silverfish can thrive in different climates, but choose damper locations, it’s important for treatments to address the humidity levels of problem areas. Silverfish prevention can usually be handled by routine upkeep of potential silverfish feeding sights or locations where moisture is known to sit. Existing silverfish problems should be handled by a pest extermination professional as traditional silverfish prevention methods do not remove silverfish eggs or stragglers.
