Ant Pest Control

Ants (Formicidae) have been considered pests since the dawn of man. Though most ants types are not naturally aggressive, they’ve long been associated with destroying food crops and other man made objects due to their incredible ability to move earth with their shear numbers in addition to their ability to cause a decent amoun of pain with their bites given their numbers.
MasterGuard controls ant populations using insecticide baits in granule and liquid form. The insecticide bait is gathered by ants, interpreted by them as food and brought back to the nest where the insecticide is inadvertently spread throughout the ant colony. Boric acid and Borax are often also used as insecticides because they are relatively safe for humans in low doses if accidental contact is made. Generally insectide is spread over a large area to ensure maximum exposure to any intruding any colonies in the area.

ANT BITES
Ant bites, for the most part, aren’t anything more than an annoyance, causing about as much pain as a prick from a thorn bush, though there are some ant types with bites that go beyond the average ant, causing some truly unbearable pain. Luckily for most of us, these types of ants aren’t very common in the United States or around Wisconsin or Michigan.
While most people are not allergic to ant bites, ant bites can still cause severe allergic reactions to a small percentage of the population, even from your average ant. Even then some ant types can cause allergic reactions to those not normally allergic, similarly to a bee sting swelling up.
ANT BITE SYMPTOMS
Ant bites rarely go unnoticed due to the pain caused by the bite. Most ant bites will not cause bleeding signifcant enough to worry about however the sking around the bite will begin to swell, itch, redden and remain painful depending on the number of bites on the spot and the type of ant.
Severe allergic reactions include moderate chest pain, nausea, heavy sweating, labored breathing, serious swelling, and/or slurred speech. If any of these are experienced, seek medical attention immediately.
ANT BITE TREATMENT
Ant bites generally don’t cause anything more than pain, swelling, irritation and itching, but for light allergic reactions to ant bites, antihistamines and topical steroid creams are able to help reduce most bite symptoms. For any severe allergic reaction listed above seek immediate medical attention.
