BED BUG PEST CONTROL

Bed Bugs (Cimex Lectularius) are classified as a ‘parasitic insect’ because they feed exclusively on the blood from humans and other animals. When fully grown bed bugs are usually of reddish-brown coloring with a flat oval shaped body. Fully grown bed bugs can grow to 4–5mm in length and 1.5–3mm wide. Their tiny size makes them incredibly hard to see which is why most infestations go unnoticed until their numbers become too high to count.

BED BUG BITES

Bed bug bites are completely painless, typically harmless and generally go unnoticed. Most bed bug bites are commonly found on the arms or legs, but can occur anywhere. If itching or irritation occur, use itch relief cream for a relief of symptoms.

BED BUG BITE SYMPTOMS

Bed bug bite symptoms are often confused with everyday skin irritation. Symptoms include redness of the skin, swelling, itching and raised, bumpy skin. If in rare circumstances a severe allergic reaction does occur, consult your doctor or local hospital immediately.

Normally, bed bug bites require no treatment however severe itching caused by bed bug bites can be easily treated using antihistamines and other topical steroid creams to combat itching. If a severe allergic reaction occurs, consult your doctor or local hospital immediately.

BED BUG HABITS

Unfortunately for us, bed bugs aren’t limited to just beds. Bed bugs can live nearly anywhere, though they prefer dark locations. Typically, bed bugs will plant their nests in the fabric of furniture near their host, comprising of hundreds of eggs. Also check stored fabrics including clothing, sheets, blankets, etc.

Bed Bugs are nocturnal insects which means they are most active between the hours of 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m which is why you’ll likely never see them. A good way to determine their presence besides bite symptoms is the tiny amount of fecal matter left behind by bed bugs. However if you see one in your house at any time, it’s a good indication that others are around as well. Don’t hesitate to contact us, or another pest control company as soon as possible if you see one. At MasterGuard, we offer a free first time inspection for this exact reason!
